The annual Marriage Mass, celebrated by Bishop Patrick McKinney, took place on 10 February 2019 in St Barnabas Cathedral.
Married couples from around the Diocese gathered for Mass, to celebrate the vocation of marriage, and to renew their vows to each other. The Cathedral choir provided music, and Bishop Patrick preached a homily challenging us to to speak positively to young people, at every opportunity, about the beauty of marriage.
After Mass, there were refreshments in the Cathedral Hall, and the opportunity to make new friendships and renew old ones. Several organisations involved in supporting marriage and family life in the Diocese provided information stalls.
As has become traditional, the longest-married couple present (celebrating 62 years married) and our newest married couple present (5 months) were photographed with the Bishop and Fr David Palmer after the Mass.
